Book an AppointmentExplore ServicesYou step off 66th Street and the city softens behind you. The door closes with a hush—tea steam curls in the air, candlelight settles, and the day finally lets go.
A therapist greets you with a quiet bow and warm hands. The ritual begins not with hurry, but with listening—how you slept, where you carry the week, what you want to feel when you leave. You settle in. Breath slows. The room holds still.
Pressure travels with intention: steady, rhythmic Shiatsu along familiar pathways, then the focused, sculpting gestures of Chinese Tui Na. A shoulder that wouldn’t yield begins to ease. The pace never rushes; it simply follows what your body asks for. When needed, cups lift gently at the surface—encouraging circulation, releasing deep tension, creating a buoyant lightness where there was weight.
The space is refined but not loud about it—plum and gold details, soft linens, the clean comfort of a well-kept room. A hint of matcha and hinoki lingers; your attention turns inward. Time loosens its grip.
When the final palm rests at the base of your neck, you feel taller, quieter, re-aligned. The mirror doesn’t show everything that changed, but you carry it anyway—shoulders that sit where they’re meant to, breath that moves without effort, a steadier kind of energy.
Outside, St. Petersburg is the same as it was an hour ago. You are not. This is Datang—rooted in the wisdom of Japan and China, created for those who value craft, calm, and care in every detail. Relaxed. Refreshed. Rejuvenated. And ready to step back into the world, feeling unmistakably more like yourself.

Gua sha has been shown to increase microcirculation in the areas where it’s performed, meaning it helps promote blood flow through your body’s smallest blood vessels. Gua sha can cause small reddish-purplish spots to form on your skin. They may look like a rash, but they’re petechiae — tiny spots of bleeding under the skin caused by broken capillaries. The thinking is that this triggers an anti-inflammatory response, prompting your body to promote healing in that area. It can help relieve pain from musculoskeletal problems, like tightness in your shoulders, neck, back and legs.

Chinese massage began as instinctive self‑care—hands easing sore muscles after long days of work—and grew into a pillar of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). Its lineage reaches back to the Shang Dynasty, where oracle bone records point to early therapeutic touch. By the Qin and Han eras, the Huangdi Neijing (Yellow Emperor’s Inner Classic) described diagnostic and therapeutic effects of massage (often called Daoyin Anqiao), and the first specialized treatise, the Huangdi Qibo Massage Classic, was compiled. Through the Sui and Tang dynasties, massage earned formal departments and clinical roles; across the Ming and Qing dynasties, distinct schools and texts refined techniques that ultimately evolved into the widely practiced therapeutic and health‑preserving methods we know today.
At Datang, we honor that heritage—applying time‑tested methods with contemporary professionalism to help you move, sleep, and feel better.
Sessions may help reduce pain and stiffness, deepen relaxation and sleep, improve circulation and mobility, and support day‑to‑day recovery. Your appointment begins with a brief consultation; techniques are tailored and may be dynamic (and occasionally strong yet relieving). Treatments can be combined with cupping, Gua Sha, or herbal liniments when appropriate.
